Nate Lubs

Nate Lubs is a PGA Professional with Golf Waterloo. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and came to the Cedar Valley in 1993 to attend the University of Northern Iowa. Lubs earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology while also competing on the UNI Men’s Golf Team. He was the Team Captain from 1995-1998, and won multiple college and Iowa amateur events during that time, including: the 1995 Sioux City City Championship, the 1996 Waterloo Open, the 1997 Carroll Amateur, & the 1997 D.A. Weibring Invitational. After graduating from UNI in 1998 he became an Assistant Golf Professional at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course until 2002 during which time he was named the 2000 Iowa Section PGA Assistant Professional of the Year. Lubs then spent 8 years in the Quad Cities as an Assistant Professional and a Head Professional. He was excited for the opportunity to be back in Waterloo at Gates Park from 2010-2018.  In 2019 he teamed up with Monte Meyer to start Golf Waterloo and their partnership has streamlined the operation of the Waterloo golf courses. Together they have increased participation in outings, tournaments, leagues, golf clinics, and junior golf. Nate truly enjoys introducing adults and juniors to a game they can play with friends and family & enjoy for a lifetime. 

Monte Meyer

Monte Meyer was born in Elgin, IA but grew up in Cedar Falls, IA. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1984. He then went on to play golf at the University of Northern Iowa while getting a degree in Financial Management, graduating in1989. Meyer was the assistant golf professional at Irv Warren from 1989-1990. He was the head golf professional at South Hills Golf Course from 1991-2018. He was then named the head golf professional for Golf Waterloo in 2018. In that same year he was named the Iowa Section Golf Professional of the year. This award is the biggest honor to an Iowa PGA golfer. He was chosen for this award based on his spectacular leadership abilities and excelling as an overall Golf Professional at the Iowa PGA Section level. Golf Waterloo was formed in 2019 by Meyer and his business partner Nate Lubs.
